The Roman Highway

Text Box: Road to Salvation

Millions have followed the Roman Highway to salvation. This Roman road consists of St. Paul’s letter to the Romans. This powerful, informational book has helped millions to understand God’s message of salvation. Provided below are a few verses from the book of Romans providing this soul saving message. After reading them, it is suggested that you read the entire book of Romans in your bible.

Quick Overview

All of us are born dead in trespasses and sin.
God's stiff penalty for any and all sin is eternal death!
The Lord Christ paid the penalty for sinners through His death on the cross.
We must confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead.

Detailed Presentation

Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
RO 3:11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.
RO 3:12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good, not even one."

Comment: Many people do good things. Many are considered the "Pillar" of their community. Even ministers fall short of God’s glory and cannot be considered "righteous" by Gods standards which is perfection. To be with God, one must be perfect. None of us here on earth now or in times past is or has been perfect, except for Jesus Christ of course. God is referring to man in this verse. All of mankind is sinful. Even our most honored men are sinful by God’s perfect standards. If we have all sinned and we must be perfect to get to heaven and live with God, then how can this dilemmna be reconciled? Of even greater concern, if I die and am not perfect enough to be with God in heaven, what will become of me?

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Comment: St. Paul is telling us that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is no one who has met God’s standard of perfection and is therefore able to meet with God and stand in His presence. On the contrary, we have all indeed offended Him by sinning. Sinning is being directly rebellious toward God by doing the opposite of what we know He wants us to do. Sound familiar?

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Comment: Now why would a perfect God ever want to love you or me? He just does for His good pleasure. We did not even come close to pleasing God, nor could we ever on our own, and He made the supreme sacrifice of giving up His life for you and for me while we were yet sinners. For He died for you and for me before we ever came to know Him or even "of Him." Yet, in His perfect love for us, He layed down His life for His enemies. For when we were yet in sin, we were His enemies. And He layed down His life for all even for those of us who would never accept Him. Jesus has already paid the price for everyone but only those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior have His righteousness for our righteousness could never earn us heaven. Without the righteousness of Jesus, we are doomed. Jesus loves us all and wishes that none should perish. Unfortunately, many will. Please do not be one of them. We must accept His invitation. We must accept His righteousness for it to apply to us. Jesus bought and paid for everyone's tickets to enter heaven. You must accept yours. Do not show up without it. Faith in Jesus is accepting Him and what He did for us. That's the ticket!

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Comment: Sin can only bring one outcome, death. Sin can only earn death. Rest assured that a holy and righteous God will be just and permit sin to reap its just reward. But, the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus merely by accepting His free gift in faith. Jesus did all the work, all we must do is the only thing we can do without lifting a finger and that is to simply believe. We approach God not with our holiness (for which we have none) but with our faith, simply in believing He is who He claims to be, the Son of God. Believe that He died for your sins, and was buried and resurrected Himself on the 3rd day. Believe that, and you have received His free gift of eternal life with Him and the Father in heaven everlasting.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Comment: We are all destined to go to hell. We were born in sin from Adam. We have no way of changing that on our own. There is nothing we can do to pay for our sin, then be perfect as God is perfect. It is an impossibility. God did not have to do anything to change this condition. Yet, Jesus chose to pay for all our sins and make us perfect forever in His Fathers eyes. We did not ask Him to do this for us. He volunteered to do so because of His intense love for us. He paid, not with a few dollars but with His dearest possession, His Sons life. Jesus paid with His own life. Not even satan can condemn us for our sins now. Jesus’ shed blood at Calvary trumps all condemnation. We are as spotless as Jesus now. When our heavenly Father looks at a believer, all He sees is the pure white spotless sinless cloak of His Son. This is what Jesus accomplished by His sacrifice for you and for me at Calvary. Jesus’ resurrection accomplished victory over death which Jesus also gives to those of us who believe in Him. Non-believers will die twice, once in the flesh and again when cast into the lake of fire to burn for all eternity where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. But believers will only die once in the flesh. Their spirit will never die as walking with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ IS heaven.

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Comment: To believe in the unbelievable is what is asked of us. But is it unbelievable? If we can believe in an almighty God, and history, in the many who also gave up their lives for what they had seen, we can therefore indeed believe. In our heart, we believe the overwhelming evidence. With our mouths, we simply say so. If we can believe, we can profess our belief by saying so. If we believe in our hearts, we cannot help but profess with our mouths and be saved. No signatures on triplicate forms, no witnesses, no licensing. Is between God and you. Do it now.

Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Comment: Every person, no matter how many nor how few who calls on the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, shall be saved. Does this include calling upon His name in a mocking or derogatory way? No. If your heart is sincere, He will hear you, and you will become His forever. Trust in Him. Trust in His Holy Name.   □
