How Would I Know?
As I was born and raised as a Roman Catholic, as I was an alterboy in
grammar school, yes answering the priests prayers in Latin, as I once wanted
to become a priest, I was a Roman Catholic up until the age of 35. What
happened to change my mind? My mind was opened to God's Truth after 3 years
of praying for intimacy with Jesus Christ. As Jesus Himself, revealed
Himself to me through His Holy Word, the bible, I began to see and
understand things differently.
While a Catholic growing up as a child, I was forbidden from attending other
churches. It was in fact a sin I was told to do so. Our Lord still found a
way to lead me to His Truth through the undeniable Truth in His Word.
My Catholic friends, I challenge you to THINK about what you already know.
Please do not remain in darkness. And a few verses later...
In the beginning was the "Word" with a capital letter "W." Capital
letters refer to God. The Word is HIS Written Word, each and every Word of
the bible.
All of scripture is "God-breathed" meaning it is HIS Word to you and to
me. And the Word WAS GOD! And a few verses later, "And the Word became
flesh." It is no secret even in the Catholic Church that Jesus IS the Word.
Jesus IS the Bible. The Bible is Jesus's Words to you and to me. It is HIS
message to us for this lifetime. The Official Roman Catholic Catechism
written by John A. Hardon, S.J. Doubleday press Copyright © 1981 having the
"Imptimatur" and "Nehil Obstat" says in its introduction on page 23...
The author proceeds to justify this by saying that as one
sees with St. Peter that, "the interpretation of scriptural prophecy
is never a matter for the individual. Why? Because no prophecy ever came
from man's initiative. When men spoke for God it was the Holy Spirit that
moved them (2Peter 1:20-21)

We are implored to remain in Him. Jesus Christ is Not the
author of confusion. It is true that many parts of the bible are difficult
for us to understand. God's Holy Spirit reveals to us that which He wants us
to know. But please, do not throw the baby out with the bathwater, much of
scripture is simple enough for a child to understand. And as a child would
read God's word and understand them, how can one participate in a religion
that contradicts God's Word. Not once, but a multitude of times. Not in
secret, but blatantly. Please do not feel
safety in numbers. Do not feel safety in tradition. What is your answer to the question of "How long must a
lie exist before it is no longer a lie?" Just
because your parents and grandparents practiced a certain way does not mean
that it should be accepted as true. God has given us an intellect. He
expects us to use it. Please, do not proceed
blindly as sheep to the slaughter. Seeking God's
Truth with the pure intention of wanting intimacy with Jesus
Christ, of knowing HIS TRUTH will bring you to Him. Our Lord loves when we
seek Him.
Also...
Much of what has been written exposing the falacies taught in the Roman
Catholic Church has been written by former Catholics. Unfortunately, the
anger inside of them (and me) is intense. We are upset that the ones we
placed all of our blind faith in have deceived us en masse. It is difficult
to come to God's Truth by reading what has been written in anger. I suggest
the very best way to come to know Jesus is by reading His Word beginning
with the Gospel of John, then the Book of Romans thru to the end of the
bible. Then read the book of Genesis, Proverbs and the rest of the bible. He
will reveal Himself to you in His Truth. The false teachings will melt away in
light of His Truth. There is one book I have come across that is void of
that anger I referred to earlier. It is written quite objectively and I
suggest is most palettable for practicing Catholics. It is an objective,
factual comparison of the Catholic Tradition to the Word of God and I highly
recommend it. This book is an excellent factual comparison using excerpt
from the official Catholic Catechism referred to earlier and the Bible.
